Research & Development
STRATAGEM974 develops and adapts innovative geophysical methods in order to push the limits of conventional solutions, improve measurement quality and operate on complex or difficult-to-access sites.
Developing innovative geophysical methods
Most geophysical engineering firms use standard equipment and software designed for shallow subsurface investigations. At STRATAGEM974, we improve existing instruments in collaboration with their developers, and develop our own instruments, protocols and software tools.
This approach makes it possible to go beyond the limits of conventional “push-button” solutions and to adapt geophysical methods to real field constraints: difficult access, complex topography, investigation depth, measurement noise and subsurface heterogeneity.
An approach adapted to complex field conditions
Geophysical prospecting is often limited on difficult-to-access sites due to the weight of equipment, installation constraints and sometimes irregular coverage caused by topography.
To address these constraints, STRATAGEM974 develops non-conventional methods, including high-resolution and deep electrical resistivity tomography protocols, as well as tools dedicated to self-potential measurements and soil gas surveys.
These developments make it possible to obtain favourable signal-to-noise ratios and to build robust 2D and 3D models for the study of complex underground structures.
Geothermal Energy & Volcanology
Investigation of hydrothermal systems in active volcanoes, such as Piton de La Fournaise, La Soufrière, Vulcano, Stromboli and El Misti.
Oil Reservoirs
Development of electrical resistivity tomography protocols to complement seismic approaches, particularly in deep investigation contexts.
Precious Mineral Exploration
Multidimensional geophysical modelling and multi-method approaches to optimize reconnaissance and drilling campaigns.
Groundwater Exploration
Support for NGOs and government agencies in projects related to the exploration and management of water resources.
Natural Hazards
Rapid and non-destructive mapping of complex terrains, particularly for the study of deep structures and areas subject to critical constraints.
Geophysical Instrumentation
Adaptation of equipment, development of protocols and improvement of acquisition systems for field measurements.
